National Victim Advocacy and Service Organizations

Instrumental in developing the landmark Violence Against Women Act passed by Congress in 1994, the FVPF has continued to break new ground by reaching new audiences including men and youth, promoting leadership within communities to ensure that violence prevention efforts become self-sustaining, and transforming the way health care providers, police, judges, employers and others address violence.

Ken Eaton Foundation

The Ken Eaton Foundation focuses on the prevention of hate crimes by providing a forum for victim's voices. Our goal is to put a voice and a face to victims across America in hopes of preventing future hate crimes.

Justice for All

Through private citizen and corporate membership, Justice For All will peacefully exert the social and legislative influence necessary to effect positive change in the criminal justice system. An informed, dedicated and politically active membership will be the greatest asset in achieving that objective.

Helen's Pajama Party

More than a million women a year are victims of domestic abuse in the United States. Almost all who seek refuge at domestic violence shelters arrive with just the clothes on their backs. Helen’s Pajama Party is a non-profit organization that collects new pajamas to give to shelters. The goal is to have a pair of new pajamas waiting for every woman who enters a shelter. You can help us by donating new pajamas with the tags left on.

Office for Victims of Crime

The Office for Victims of Crime of the U.S. Department of Justice serves as the focal point for federal government efforts on behalf of crime victims. The OVC adminsters the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) programs which provides grant funding to each state to support services for crime victims, as well as developing programming and providing funding for research and training on issues of concern to crime victims.

The National Organization for Victim Assistance

NOVA is a national organization working on behalf of victims of crime and disasters. NOVA serves as an advocate for victim rights and services.

The National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center

Located at the Medical University of South Carolina, this organization conducts clinical and field research to further understanding of the impact of criminal victimization on adults, children and their families.

The National Crime Victims' Constitutional Amendment Network

This organization works for a victims rights amendment to the U.S. Constitution and to the constitutions of those states which do not yet have them. Read Senate File 2329, a statutory alternative to the federal crime victims rights amendment.

Women's Justice Center

With resources in English and Spanish, the Women's Justice Center includes a handbook for Advocating for Women in the Criminal Justice System in Cases of Rape, Domestic Violence and Child Abuse.

 

Iowa Organizations and Sources of Information

The CVAD of the Iowa Department of Justice now has a World Wide Web site. CVAD administers Iowa's Crime Victim Compensation Crime Victim Assistance Grants programs.

Iowa Center for Immigrant Leadership and Integration

The University of Northern Iowa's New Iowans Program (NIP) guides and prepares Iowa communities and businesses as they accommodate immigrant and refugee newcomers living and working in Iowa.

The Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence

ICADV is made up of organizations and individuals providing resources, services, and advocacy for victims of domestic violence in Iowa.

The Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault

Iowa CASA consists of organizations and individuals providing resources, services, and advocacy for victims of sexual assault in Iowa.

Iowa Office of Drug Control Policy

The mission of ODCP is to serve as a leader and a catalyst for improving the health and safety of all Iowans by promoting strategic approaches and collaboration to reduce drug use and related crime.
